Merotec 1gm Injection contains Meropenem which belongs to the group of medicines known as Antibiotics. It is used to treat various bacterial infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynecological infections such as endometritis and pelvic inflammatory disease, skin and skin structure infections, meningitis and septicemia.

It is also indicated for empiric treatment, for presumed infections in adult patients with febrile neutropenia, used as monotherapy or in combination with anti-viral or anti-fungal agents. Merotec 1gm Injection is also used in the management of neutropenic patients with fever that is suspected to be due to a bacterial infection and bacterial infection of the blood.

Merotec 1gm Injection is commonly used to treat critically ill patients admitted to the hospital. The dose will depend on what type of infection you have, where it is in the body, and how serious it is. You should keep on taking the injection for as long as you have been prescribed, even if your symptoms quickly improve. If you stop taking it too early the infection may return or worsen

Before starting treatment with this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have epilepsy (seizures), liver or kidney problems or if you are allergic to any antibiotic.

While using it, you may be advised blood tests to monitor your blood cell count and kidney function. This medicine is generally regarded as safe to use in pregnancy and breastfeeding if prescribed by the doctor.

Merotec 1gm Injection is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic which is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It exerts its action by penetrating bacterial cells readily and interfering with the synthesis of vital cell wall components, which leads to cell death.
