Efcure 600MG TABLET contains Efavirenz which belongs to a group of medicines called Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Efcure 600MG TABLET is used with other antiretroviral medicines to treat HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) infection in adults and children (aged 3 months and above).

Efcure 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children (aged less than 3 months) and also in children weighing less than 3.5 kg. The medicine is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years/above) after consulting the doctor.

Efavir 600 Tablet reduces the chances of getting HIV-related complications and improves your lifespan. It can be taken empty stomach or with food and is prescribed in combination with other HIV medicines. Taking all these medicines regularly at the right times greatly increases their effectiveness and reduces the chances of HIV becoming resistant to them. It is important to keep taking them regularly until your doctor tells you it is safe to stop.

Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have any skin, liver, or kidney problems. While using it, you may need regular blood tests to check your blood cell counts and liver function. Avoid drinking alcohol as it may increase your risk of liver damage.

Do not have unprotected sex or share personal items like razors or toothbrushes, if you are HIV positive. Talk to your doctor about safe ways like condoms to prevent HIV transmission during sex.

MEDICINAL USE OF EFCURE TABLET

Efcure 600MG TABLET works by binding directly to the viral reverse transcriptase enzyme (substance used by HIV to make duplicate copies) which results in inhibition of its synthesis thus stopping the virus from producing new copies of virus in affected individuals.

Treats HIV infection in adults and children (aged 3 months and above) when combined with other antiretroviral medicines.

SIDE EFFECTS OF EFCURE TABLET

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine.

  • Skin rash
  • Abnormal dreams, difficulty while concentrating, dizziness, headache, difficult to attain sleep, drowsiness, problems with coordination/balance
  • Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea
  • Itching
  • Tiredness
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Feeling anxious/depressed.
  • Nervousness, forgetfulness, confusion, seizures, abnormal thoughts
  • Blurred vision
  • Feeling of spinning sensation
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreas) associated with stomach pain
  • Severe allergic skin reactions such as erythema multiforme, Stevens Johnson syndrome
  • Signs of inflammation of liver such as yellowing of skin or whites of eyes, itching, and/or abdominal pain
  • Breast enlargement in males
  • Angry behavior, affected mood, hallucinations, mania (mental condition characterized by episodes of overactivity, elation/irritability), paranoia, suicidal thoughts
  • Whistling, ringing/other persistent noise in the ears

DOSAGE OF EFCURE TABLET
  • The recommended dosage of Efcure Capsules and Tablets is 600 mg orally, once daily, in combination with a protease inhibitor and/or nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs).
  • It is recommended that Efcure Capsules and Tablets be taken on an empty stomach, preferably at bedtime1.
  • Take the missed dose of Efcure 600 mg Tablet as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
