Regonat Tablet is a Tyrosine kinase inhibitors used in the treatment of cancer of colon and rectum. The tablets treat colon or rectal cancer, certain types of stomach and bowel cancer, and liver cancer.

Regonat Tablet should be taken with food, but try to have it at the same time every day to get the most benefits. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time.

You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.

Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your healthcare team know all medications you are using.

This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

MEDICINAL USE OF REGONAT TABLET

Regonat 40 mg tablets work by slowing down the growth and spread of cancer cells and cutting off their blood supply.

Regonat 40 mg tablet is used in the treatment of:

  • Colorectal cancer has started to spread to other parts of the body.
  • Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) (a type of stomach and bowel cancer).
  • Liver cancer in adult patients who have already undergone treatment with Sorafenib.
SIDE EFFECTS OF REGONAT TABLET

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine.

  • Reduced number of white blood cells
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Lowered levels of phosphate, potassium, calcium, sodium, or magnesium
  • Elevated level of uric acid in the blood
  • Dehydration
  • Headache and tremors
  • Disorder of the nerves that causes numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain (peripheral neuropathy)
  • Changes in taste, dry mouth
  • Heartburn
  • Gastroenteritis (inflammation and infection of the stomach)
  • Hair loss (alopecia)
  • Dry skin
  • Rashes
  • Muscle spasms
  • Protein in urine
  • Abnormal blood clotting condition
DOSAGE OF REGONAT TABLET
  • The recommended dose is 160 mg Regonat (four 40 mg tablets) taken orally once daily for the first 21 days of each 28-day cycle.
  • Regonat Tablet should be taken with food, but try to have it at the same time every day to get the most benefits.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on that day. Do not take two doses of this medicine on the same day to make up for a missed dose from the previous day. Tell your doctor about any missed dose.
